Desert 4 o’clocks have been abundant in the Sandia foothills this year. They’re really quite miraculous — their leaves are a deep green, and they often don’t bloom (or even grow) at all.

I’m reluctant to let go of Christmas lights because I know it’ll be the end of color for the next few months. However, this exploding snowflake is particularly timely since New Mexico just got smacked with so much snow that the governor has declared a state of emergency. Snow pix to come — perhaps next year.
